DENISEA WOODARD

Also known by her students as Ms. D, is the founder and Artistic Director of Rising Stars Academy of Dance & Performing Arts.

Denisea started her dance journey at the age of 8 at Ms. Graham’s Dance Academy where she studied jazz, modern, and tap until becoming a dance captain for the Thurgood Marshall Mystics. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Minor in Dance from Prairie View A&M University. She later received her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Texas Women’s University. Denisea has been dancing for over 18 years and has enjoyed being a part of both the Classic Dance Ensemble and Prairie View’s own Marching Storm Black Foxes. She is an experienced dance teacher in styles such as Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Liturgical style Praise Dance.

While studying at Prairie View A&M University, she served as President of the Nu Delta Alpha Honor’s Society for Dance and as the Treasurer of Kappa Delta Pi National Honor’s Society for Educators.

Denisea has traveled to states such as New York, Tennessee and Missouri to study and train with Master Dance Teachers from all over the world. Denisea’s award winning choreography has led her to create masterpieces for numerous stage productions, competition routines and workshops. She has danced with Gospel recording artists such as Hezekiah Walker, Beverly Crawford, Jekalyn Carr, Cindy Trim and many more. When Denisea is not teaching she is traveling with the “Purpose with Passion International Dance Company” as a dancer and lead choreographer.
She believes that God has granted her with two most precious gifts; love for kids and the ability to dance. Denisea is now a licensed School Director and is writing her curriculum for the My Rising Stars Performing Arts School.
